The Ghost of Woody Guthrie

by Bucky Halker

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

A double-CD, 22-song set that includes 16 Bucky Halker originals, 5 Woody Guthrie songs, and one traditional song Woody and Bucky both enjoyed.

From Bucky (on the back cover of the CD case):
"Woody Guthrie's been riding shotgun in my life as long as I've been playing music. Our fifty-year encouter has been a friendly, spirited, and engaging conversation, though we've had our acrimonious stints. In honor of this lengthy road trip with Woody, and the profound impact he's had on me and the world around us. I decided to create this musical project and take it public. Joined by my compatriot-in-song Andy Dee, and Mr. Guthrie looking over my shoulder. I offer this tribute to Woodrow Wilson Guthrie (1912-1967). In solidarity, Bucky Halker"

The project was recorded in an old-school Folkways Records style. Bucky and Andy Dee do nearly all the parts, which they recorded November 14-20, 2012 in an empty house on the shore of Lake Superior.

Bucky Halker: vocals, guitars, ukulele, bass, piano, bongos and percussion
Andy Dee: lap steel, guitars, ukulele, organ, percussion, background vocals, dobro, Weissenborn, and banjo.
